After suffering an injury in Sunday’s victory against West Ham United, Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag has acknowledged that Lisandro Martnez could miss a few more matches.

Martinez, who had just returned to the team after an extended injury layoff, was taken ill in the 71st minute when Vladimr Coufal hurt his right leg. The Argentine defender went to the sidelines to recover, but he was eventually substituted for Raphael Varane.

Ten Hag had some disappointing news for the United supporters who had been waiting expectantly for an update on Martinez. Manchester United’s boss told the BBC that the injury seemed severe and that the team would need to wait for a proper diagnosis.

If anyone has the resolve to deal with a potential setback, it’s this man.

According to Ten Hag, the club is now in a state of deep sadness and is praying for his swift return. The United manager said the Argentine would likely miss the next matches.

“It seems bad, and we must wait and make the right diagnosis. At this moment, we are unfortunate. Hopefully, it is not too bad, but we can only pray. It looks like he has to sit some games out injured again,” said Ten Hag.

Celebrating his 21st birthday, Rasmus Hjlund scored the opening goal for United in his fourth consecutive league match. In the 49th minute, Alejandro Garnacho doubled the advantage for the Red Devils. In the 84th minute, he scored a beautiful goal to secure the three points.

The match was significant for both teams, as it allowed Manchester United to leapfrog West Ham in the league standings, moving up to sixth place. So far, they’ve accumulated 38 points.
