Martinez, who had just returned to the team after an extended injury layoff, was taken ill in the 71st minute when Vladimr Coufal hurt his right leg. The Argentine defender went to the sidelines to recover, but he was eventually substituted for Raphael Varane.
Ten Hag had some disappointing news for the United supporters who had been waiting expectantly for an update on Martinez. Manchester United’s boss told the BBC that the injury seemed severe and that the team would need to wait for a proper diagnosis.

“It seems bad, and we must wait and make the right diagnosis. At this moment, we are unfortunate. Hopefully, it is not too bad, but we can only pray. It looks like he has to sit some games out injured again,” said Ten Hag.
